Hearing under way in Ohio case about 'white only' pool sign

CINCINNATI (AP) — The white father of a black girl who the state says was discriminated against when his Cincinnati landlord posted a poolside “White Only” sign says his family suffered emotionally and financially as a result.

Michael Gunn testified before an Ohio Civil Rights Commission administrative judge today in Cincinnati that he was outraged and had to move to safe guard his daughter from emotional harm.

Penalties the judge is weighing against the landlord could include punitive and compensatory damages.

Landlord Jamie Hein claimed hair products used by Gunn’s daughter clouded the pool.

The commission ruled earlier this year that Hein discriminated against the girl.

Hein did not attend today’s hearing and a recording said her voicemail was full.
