Boardman 12-year-old all stars fall in state tourney

Boardman Community Baseball’s 12-year-old all-star team was eliminated from the recent state tournament after a 15-12 loss to Clyde Little League.

Clyde built a 4-0 advantage in the top of the first inning, but Boardman answered in its half of the inning with nine runs to take a 9-4 lead. Luke Cardillo hit a three-run homer, followed by a solo shot by Brian Kardupel, a two-run bomb by Jarod Wilson and a two-run homer by Noah Falleti.

Boardman scored just three runs the rest of the game (one in second and two in the fifth), while Clyde plated 11 more runs, taking the lead for good with a nine-run second inning.

The team ends its Little League career with a 28-4 record over the past two seasons.

The team roster includes Noah Falleti, Michael Melewski, Dominic Stilliana, Dominic Pecchia, Bobby Toth, Michael Cunningham, Sean Buck, Bryan Kordupel, Evan Knaus, Luciano Cardillo, Dante Beato, and Jarod Wilson. The team manager is Ted Melewski and the coaches are Tony Stilliana, Joe Cunningham and Jeff Wilson.
