Scrappers smash Lake Monsters on road

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers developed an early lead and controlled Wednesday’s game against the Vermont Lake Monsters. The Scrappers won 6-1 and improved to 22-20 on the year.
Charlie Valerio led the offense with three hits, three runs and a pair of RBIs. His two-run home run in the third inning of Vermont starter Michael Ynoa put the Scrappers up 3-0.
Joe Wendle’s RBI single scored Aaron Siliga for the first run in the top of the first to open up the scoring.
Evan Frazar, making his second-straight start and Siliga each collected a pair of hits.
Mahoning Valley scored again in the fourth and fifth inning and plated another in the fifth off of a throwing error by catcher Bruce Maxwell.
Scrappers started Jacob Lee went three innings with four strikeouts and an earned run. He handed the ball over to Geoffery Davenport, who went four innings for his first win.
