POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman, Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

BOARDMAN

July 29

Domestic violence: Police charged 44-year-old Melanie A. Brown, 5343 Shadow Creek Drive, Boardman, after her husband alleged that during an argument, Brown had struck him several times in the face, chest and back.

HUBBARD

July 23

Theft: Occurred on Woodland Drive.

July 24

Criminal damaging: A School Street resident reported property damage.

Criminal damaging: Property was damaged in Harding Park off Harding Avenue.

July 25

Criminal damaging: Property was damaged at a Mackey Street residence.

Theft: Items were stolen from a Bentley Avenue home.

July 26

Trespassing: Someone trespassed on private property near North Main Street.

July 27

Menacing: A Hillview Drive resident reported having been threatened.

LIBERTY

July 26

Theft: Danny R. Peters, 37, faced one count of theft and two of resisting arrest after a two-pack of light bulbs was stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. Police had to use a stun gun on Peters, of 338 Ohio Ave., Girard, after saying he had led them on a foot chase and twice refused to surrender.

Theft/drugs: A shoplifting situation at Walmart resulted in a felony-theft charge against Ryan R. Repko, 25, of 5854 Youngstown-Kingsville Road. Also, Megan R. Fitzgerald, 22, of 145 Raymond Ave., Warren, faced misdemeanor charges of possession of dangerous drugs and marijuana when, authorities said, a suspected marijuana cigarette, a bag of painkillers and a syringe cap were found in their car.

Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed 18-year-old Shayne J. Mascarella of Lugoff, S.C., to township authorities. He was wanted on a charge of failing to appear in court.

Possible theft: An Oakcrest Avenue woman reported her wallet lost or stolen while at a Belmont Avenue grocery store.

July 27

Robbery: A gunman wearing blue jeans and a black baseball cap, short-sleeved shirt and shoes robbed Huntington Bank, 4700 Belmont Ave., of an undisclosed amount of money.

Burglary: To a residence in the 300 block of Beverly Hills Drive. Stolen were an envelope with $88 and a food-stamp card.

Attempted fraud: An Academy Drive woman told officers a caller tried to gain access to her account, debit-card and Social Security numbers. The accuser provided her Social Security information, a report showed.

July 28

Weapons: A traffic stop near Fifth Avenue resulted in felony charges of carrying a concealed weapon and being a convicted felon with a firearm against 19-year-old David M. Daniels, 3022 North Gate Road, and 22-year-old Curtis W. Daniels, 1040 Bryn Mawr Ave., when, police said, the two men had loaded 9 mm semiautomatic and .45-caliber firearms in the car. One of the weapons also had its serial number removed, a report said.

July 29

Assault/aggravated menacing: A Catherine Drive woman told police a man pushed her and struck her face, then threatened to shoot at her residence after she refused to give him a ride.

Theft: Police charged Jachole L. Toney, 21, of 481 Francisca Ave., Youngstown, with theft and possession of criminal tools after various food items were stolen from Dollar General in the Liberty Plaza. The latter charge was the result of Toney’s having used her purse to conceal the stolen goods, police said.

Drug paraphernalia: Authorities responding to a theft at Walmart issued a summons charging 35-year-old Kevin M. Sabo with possession of drug paraphernalia. Sabo, of 3953 Riley Ave., Struthers, had a suspected crack-cocaine pipe, a report said.

July 30

Theft/vandalism: Several parts to a truck tractor in the 1700 block of Wilson Avenue were disassembled, burned or missing.

July 31

Weapon: Officers took into safekeeping a loaded firearm a Hadley Avenue woman said she had found under a couch. The weapon reportedly belongs to a family member who’s a convicted felon, the woman told police.

GIRARD

July 31

Theft: A $400 bicycle was stolen at a business in the 100 block of East Prospect Street.

Breaking and entering: Someone forcibly entered a garage in the 200 block of Dearborn Street and removed a 32-inch TV, roughly 10 power tools, two car buffers and other items.
