Croatian Picnic set at Strossmayer center
VIENNA
The Happy Hearts golden anniversary Croatian picnic will be Sunday at Strossmayer picnic center, 4204 Smith Stewart Road. Admission is $5 ($2.50 for past members of Happy Hearts or other junior Tamburitzan groups).
The event will begin with a Mass celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Rudjak at 11 a.m. The performance schedule is as follows: Happy Hearts Junior Tamburitzans, noon; Veseljaci Tamburitzans, 12:30 p.m.; Folklore Ensemble Hrvatska Tanac, 1 p.m.; American Zagreb Junior Tamburitzans, 1:30 p.m.; Happy Hearts, 2 p.m.; Mikey Dee Band, 2:30 p.m.
There will be a full Croatian kitchen serving baked goods, lamb and other specialties.
UN Act productions plans variety show

Southside Johnny’s new project at Kent Stage

Southside Johnny and the Poor Fools will come to Kent Stage, 175 E. Main St., at 8 p.m. Sept. 15 for a stripped-down concert of lead singer Johnny Lyon’s version of the Great American Songbook.
Playing a wide range of music from Dylan, Mose Allison, Muddy Waters, NRBQ, Richard Thompson, Emmylou Harris, The Band, George Jones and more, The Poor Fools also will play classics and other songs by Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.

Manilow offers tickets for instrument donation

Singer-songwriter Barry Manilow hopes others will follow his lead as he donates a Yamaha piano to launch a local instrument drive for Akron Public Schools.
Anyone who donates a new or gently used musical instrument by bringing it to the Blossom Music Center box office will receive two free tickets to Manilow’s concert tonight at Blossom. Call the box office at 330-920-8040 to schedule a drop off.
Antique-tractor club plans show, market

The Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County will present its annual show and flea market from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 17-19 at 1653 Ridge Road. Admission is $4 (free for children 12 and under).
