Another Texas-based energy company buys Trumbull leases
YOUNGSTOWN — A Houston-based energy company has become the latest to make a big purchase of oil and gas leases in Trumbull County.
The leasing market locally appears to have strongly moved into the county with significant investments this year by Halcon Resources Corp. Halcon agreed to pay $164 million for the oil and gas rights for 27,000 acres, which is more than $6,000 per acre. The rights were purchased from NCL Appalachian Partners L.P.
Halcon’s purchase was preceded by BP leasing more than 80,000 acres and Chesapeake Energy with more than 25,000 acres.
