EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey law enforcement and transportation officials say a religious gathering at MetLife Stadium requires security and logistics that are on par with — if not greater than — what will be needed for the Super Bowl in 2014.
More than 90,000 people are expected to gather at MetLife Stadium at 8 p.m. today to attend a celebration of the completion of daily reading and study of the Talmud, the book of Jewish law and tradition.
Col. Rick Fuentes, superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, says roughly 600 state police and members of 71 agencies are working at the event in East Rutherford.
Fuentes said troopers completed an eight-hour course where they were familiarized with the stadium and learned about the customs of the Jewish community.
