John Prokop, a volunteer with Zion Lutheran Church in Cornersburg. The church has long played a vital role in community outreach in the area. It has handed out food for more than 20 years, serves holiday meals for the less fortunate and gave out over 900 bags of groceries and 550 hams and turkeys around the holidays.

“We are ready and eager to help, whatever their concern is, whether it’s purchasing [an eReader], learning to check out a book, or learning how to download it to their device. There is no uniformity or consistency among them. They all download differently.”

Diane Vicarel, Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County digital-services manager. All librarians and most library clerks have been trained to assist patrons in the use of their eBook readers.

“What we want to do is give them the power to do a whole lot more. We’ll never be satisfied when it comes to job creation. We want them to be able to do more with more, always.”

Rob Nichols, spokesman for Gov. John Kasich, saying confidentiality is considered important to JobsOhio’s ability to negotiate with private companies interested in investing in the state, just as it was for the Ohio Department of Development whose job-creation functions JobsOhio is assuming.
