Houser Sr. gets 12 months for obstruction
John Houser Sr., 48, of Volney Road, father of a suspect in a capital murder case, will serve 12 months in prison after being accused of confronting a witness in his son's case.
In a plea deal this morning, prosecutors and the defense agreed to negotiate the original charges involving charges of retaliation and intimidation to a single charge of felony obstruction.
Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court handed down the one-year sentence.
Houser's son, Jamar Houser, 21, is charged with the Jan. 23, 2010, shooting death of 80-year-old Angeline Figmonari as she was leaving Mass at St. Dominic Church. He is in county jail awaiting trial.
