Fugitive on most-wanted list nabbed in Fla.


PITTSBURGH — A man charged with stealing $2 million from an armored car he was paid to guard in Pittsburgh and fatally shooting his fellow guard before fleeing with the money has been arrested in Pompano Beach, Fla.

Kenneth J. Konias Jr., 22, who had been listed among the five suspects most wanted by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force in Youngstown, is scheduled to appear Tuesday before a U.S. magistrate in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on federal charges of robbery affecting interstate commerce and using a gun in a violent crime.

Pittsburgh police have also charged Konias with criminal homicide in the death of Michael Haines, theft by unlawful taking, and robbery in the Feb. 28 incident.
