SENIOR SIDELIGHTS


Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, Walking Club at 9 a.m., painting class ($5) and blood pressure screening at 9:30, bingo at 10 and computer class at noon; Tuesday, Vets Helping Vets and bingo at 10 a.m., bridge club at 10:30, Kitchen Krew (large quantity recipes) at 1 p.m., beginner computer class at 3 and intermediate computer class at 4; Wednesday, open exercise/cornhole/pingpong/pool at 9 a.m., bingo at 10 and Introduction to a Healthy U at 11:30; Thursday, Jump Stretch Class at 9 a.m., yoga at 9:30, bingo at 10, beginner crochet at 11:30, and Austintown Senior Players and Cards and Dogs (bingo and lunch) at noon; Friday, Walking Club at 9 a.m., bingo and discussion group at 10 and open exercise at noon. Austintown Senior Citizens are invited to Senior Citizens Appreciation Dinner at 4 p.m. May 9 at the Austintown Middle School cafeteria, 800 S. Raccoon Road. A program will follow dinner. The cost is $2 at the door, and no reservations will be accepted after Friday.

Easter Seals Private Duty will provide health assessments to seniors in Mahoning County ages 60 and over, but anyone is welcome. A nurse will provide screenings for blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation and weight. The following are scheduled: 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the East Library, 430 Early Road; 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the West Library, 2815 Mahoning Ave.; 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 7, May 14 and May 21 at the Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive; 1 to 2 p.m. May 9 at the Newport Library, 3730 Market St.; and 10 a.m. to noon May 24 at the Main Library, 305 Wick Ave.
