SENIOR CITIZENS


55-Plus Club of Mineral Ridge will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Church. Hostesses are Helen Lang and Mary Alice Seaborn. Members will dine out after the meeting and card games.

Retirees of Ajax Magnethermic will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Station Square Ristorante, 4250 Belmont Ave., Youngstown. Guests are welcome.

Cornersburg Happy Seniors will meet for lunch at 11:15 a.m. Thursday at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Members will be addressed by representatives from Camelot Arms of Cornersburg, and bingo will be the entertainment. Guests are invited; phone Betsy Koneval at 330-793-7755 to reserve lunch at a cost of $10. Greeters are Dorothy Wood and Carolyn Steiner.

Lowellville Senior Citizens will meet at noon Friday in the conference room at Lowellville City Hall. Ernie Ciarniello will preside. Lunch will be provided by Phyllis Nolfi. Members are asked to take a donation for a gift basket for a sick or shut-in member. April and May birthdays and anniversaries will be acknowledged. Bingo and a 50-50 raffle will follow the meeting. New members over 55 are invited to join.

Mahoning Retired Teachers Association will meet May 9 at Antone’s Banquet Center, 8578 Market St., Boardman. The social period will begin at 11 a.m., and lunch will be served at 11:45. Mona Bennke of Senior Independence will be the guest speaker. The program also will include an “In Memorium” by Sally Winsen, “In Remembrance” by Martha Lopez and a special recognition of older MRTA members by Jo Ann Ellis. Nonperishable goods, canned goods, paper products, current magazines, paperback books, games and puzzles will be collected. All area retired teachers are invited. Martha Lupse 50-Plus Card and Game Club will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 106 at Poland United Methodist Church. Bridge, 500, chess and checkers will be played, and Bob Fererra will give the devotions. Members are reminded to take a sack lunch; coffee and tea will be provided. St. Nicholas Senior Citizens will have a luncheon meeting at 11 a.m. May 8 at Great Hall with Laverne Cox presiding. Reservations can be made until Wednesday by sending a check for $8, payable to St. Nicholas Seniors, to Lora Opsitnik, 138 Iroquois St., Struthers, OH 44471. New members are welcome to join. Dues are now payable.

Youngstown State University Freetimers will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Denny’s in Boardman. All YSU retirees and friends are welcome.
