The Youngstown Business Incubator will host a workshop Tuesday to help technology-based businesses get federal research money.

Dave Nestic, chief executive of Tech Belt Energy Innovation Center in Warren, will discuss how the Small Business Innovation Research program can help companies get additional resources.

The innovation-research program can help small businesses engage in research and development and has the potential for commercialization.

There also will be an overview of the Youngstown Hub of Innovation Phase Zero program, which is a grant program designed to support local businesses that apply for innovation- research money.

The phase-zero program is co-sponsored by YBI, Youngstown State University School of Graduate Studies and YSU’s College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Awards of up to $5,000 are available for technical and grant-writing support.

The workshop, which is free, is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the incubator’s learning lab. For information or to register, call Rose Shaffer at 330-599-4583, or email her at rshaffer@ybi.org.
