Cocaine call lands Krinos in court

Boardman

A former Campbell mayor will be in court Tuesday, accused of making false alarms and calling emergency services after telling a Boardman restaurant employee that he had “too much cocaine.”

George N. Krinos, 34, of Campbell, was at Los Gallos on U.S. Route 224 Thursday night, reports state. Officers said they came to the restaurant after a 911 call in which a man said he was overdosing on cocaine.

Police said they arrived, saw Krinos on the patio and asked him about the call. Krinos told them he was healthy, did not need medical treatment and made up the story to prevent getting into a fight in the parking lot, officers said.

A restaurant employee said staff called a cab for Krinos, who waited outside, and that she brought Krinos as glass of water, according to reports. When she gave him the water, Krinos said he needed an ambulance and treatment for cocaine use, police said.

Boardman firefighters and an ambulance also responded to the scene, but Krinos refused treatment. Krinos was released on a court summons.

In February, Campbell police went to Krinos’ Chapel Lane residence after he reported a stabbing. Police said they found the supposed victim was not seriously hurt, and no one was charged.

Krinos was Campbell’s mayor from December 2009 until his resignation in January 2011.
