Youth group benefits from trash-treasure sale

The Canfield Presbyterian Church youth group confirmed that one man’s trash in another man’s treasure during its annual Trash and Treasure Sale April 21.
With a steady flow of customers checking out the goods, members of the youth group were on hand to check out customers, bag items and help customers out with their purchases.
Members of the church donated all the items for the sale, including furniture, household items, glassware, books, movies, toys, games, luggage, jewelry and holiday items.
According to Julie Angelo, youth group leader, the youth and their parents, along with several volunteers, also helped set up and tear down the sale, which has been staged for at least five years.
“We had lots of volunteers help us in all aspects of this sale. We have a very generous congregation and without them, this sale would not happen.
We have had lots of help and we are very thankful for that,” said Angelo.
Proceeds from the Trash and Treasure Sale will go toward the youth group’s mission trip to the Appalachian Mountains in Kentucky this July to pay for gas, food and lodging for the youth.
