Stadium Drive rooting for test takers

Neighbors | Sarah Foor .Music teacher Dean Wilson encouraged all of the Stadium Drive students to practice self-dicipline, whether in life or while facing a big test. Wilson defined self-dicipline as doing what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, whether you want to or not.

Music teachers Dean Wilson and Ali Pabrinkas entertained and inspired Stadium Drive Elementary students during a presentation on April 19.
The assembly focused on teaching the students to do their best, but gave third-graders particular attention as they prepared for their Ohio Achievement Assessment tests the following week.
Wilson gave the third-graders a reliable formula to rely on for their tests and for all the students to strive for as they face any challenge.
“It’s amazing the good that can be done when you have a full night of sleep, eat a great breakfast and practice, practice, practice,” Wilson said.
The entire school sang inspirational tunes that included “It’s All Good,” “I Think I’ll Think Twice,” and “Let the Games Begin.” Between the sing-alongs, Wilson and Pabrinkas showed videos that had students laughing. Each clip dropped in photos of the faces of Stadium officials onto the bodies of rock stars, break dancers and weight lifters.
Pabrinkas urged the students to look “Just Around the Riverbend” as she sang the familiar tune from the Disney movie Pocahontas.
Wilson said the lessons learned during the presentation apply to all problems the students may encounter.
“Whether or not you’re taking a test, do you best every day and give it your all,” he said.
After the assembly, third-grade teacher Lisa Gomon was assured that her students are ready to conquer their OAA tests.
“Throughout the year, we’ve offered an after school math club, extra practice in small groups, and worked on different concepts and testing tips. Our third-graders are supported by the whole school and ready to go,” Gomon promised.
