POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

April 13

Harassment: A township woman, no information given, said an acquaintance has been harassing her via phone.

April 15

Arson: A Molotov cocktail was used to damage a supply trailer at Set Inc., 5500 Center Road.

BOARDMAN

April 14

Felonious assault: Danetta L. Floyd, 38, of 601 Pierce Drive, Boardman, faced charges of felonious assault and domestic violence after her husband alleged Floyd had tried to run him over with a vehicle during an argument about money.

April 19

Criminal damaging: Someone used a pair of scissors to do $300 in damage to an air-conditioning unit at a residence in the 1900 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Trespassing/menacing: An Alburn Drive man told police a woman entered his apartment without permission and threatened him.

Menacing: A Youngstown woman said a man had threatened to punch her face during an argument at a Boardman-Canfield Road fast-food restaurant.

Harassment: An employee with a Boardman-Canfield Road doctor’s office reported an irate patient yelled and swore during several unwanted calls to the business.

Theft: A Sierra Madre Trail woman reported her son’s $250 bicycle stolen.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported the theft of her automated-teller-machine card while at a Doral Drive store.

Drugs: Police investigated a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of Lemans Drive before issuing citations to Tiffany E. Bennett, 21, of Coitsville Road, Campbell; Justin A. Davis, 21, of 8009 Hunters Court, Boardman; and Alan Burns, 20, of Copley, Ohio. All were charged with marijuana possession.

Aggravated menacing: A worker for a South Avenue business said a co-worker threatened to harm the accuser during a discussion about the co-worker’s job status.

Criminal mischief: Someone spray-painted obscenities on a sliding board and other playground equipment at Market Street Elementary School, 5555 Market St.

Theft/criminal damaging: A wallet was missing from a car in the 4200 block of Chester Drive that was broken into, though police said they found no signs of forced entry.

Trespassing: Police charged 24-year-old Vincent R. Thomas Jr., 2733 Cain St., Youngstown, with one misdemeanor criminal-trespassing count and one felony count of violating a protection order after a family member said he refused to leave her Paulin Drive residence. Thomas, who also was wanted on a warrant from Campbell, faced the felony charge because of a prior conviction, a report showed.

April 20

Burglary: To a garage in the 7100 block of Millcreek Boulevard, where a garage-door opener was removed from a vehicle.

Criminal damaging: A Cook Avenue woman told police a Salem woman smashed the accuser’s windshield with a rock.

Theft: Erica M. Lough, 30, was arrested on a warrant during a traffic stop near Market Street. Lough, of 2654 Bristol-Champion Trail, Bristolville, was accused of stealing eight video-game controllers from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.

Aggravated menacing: Two men reported having been threatened with bodily harm while at a home in the 4800 block of Erie Street.

Theft: A man left the Wagon Wheel Motel, 7015 Market St., without paying his $120 room charge.

Theft: An Erskine Avenue woman discovered numerous pieces of mail that she had placed on hold were missing.

Theft: Marilyn Myers, 57, and Gene D. Myers, 61, both of 8250 Southern Blvd., Boardman, were charged with stealing 16 articles of clothing valued at a total of $389 from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Menacing: A South Avenue man accused a maintenance worker of threatening to harm him as part of ongoing problems between the two.

Menacing: An employee with a Simon Road auto-service business told police a former worker made a threat.

Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a man after his girlfriend, of Forest Park Place, alleged he punched her face several times, pulled her hair and threatened to kill her during an argument related to text messages she had received.

Vehicle theft: A recreational vehicle and assorted camping equipment were stolen from Modern Office Products, 7825 South Ave.

Criminal damaging: A fence in the 6700 block of Market Street sustained $100 in damage.

Theft: A worker for Sprint Power Cellular Solutions LLC in the Southern Park Mall discovered an undisclosed sum of money and a personal-contract agreement missing.

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone tried to force open a door to a storage shed in the 4100 block of Riverside Drive.

Identity theft: An Aylesboro Avenue woman found out her personal information had been used to set up three cellphone accounts and access her bank account.

April 21

Harassment: A Washington Boulevard woman reported having received numerous such calls related to a disagreement.

Attempted burglary: Someone pried open two windows to a residence in the 4000 block of Riverside Drive, though nothing was missing and it appeared the would-be burglar was unsuccessful in entering.

Theft: Two $130 propane tanks were stolen from Modern Office Products.

Arrest: Officers at a South Avenue motel took into custody 56-year-old James M. Barber, 7393 South Ave., Boardman, whom Howland Township police wanted on a charge of violating a protection order.

Criminal damaging: Eggs struck the front portion as well as the roof of a home in the 1400 block of Turnberry Drive.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 5000 block of Market Street resulted in 32-year-old Michael D. Herman’s arrest. Herman, who listed Youngstown addresses on Marion and Glenwood avenues, was wanted by city police on three warrants.

April 22

Theft: Someone in a Ford F-150 pickup truck reportedly stole $800 worth of aluminum parts from R&J Truck & Auto Body Inc., 8063 Southern Blvd.

Theft: A Shields Road man noticed his wallet missing from a bedroom.

Theft: A Bishop Woods Trail woman reported her daughter’s $200 cellphone missing.

Harassment: A Ron Joy Place woman said her teenage son has gotten such calls.

Arrest: Police on Market Street pulled over 49-year-old Robert A. Smith, 25 Market, Youngstown, who was accused by Columbiana County authorities of contempt of court related to a charge of receiving stolen property.
