UW of Mercer Co. has Friday summit on early childhood investment


GREENVILLE, Pa. — The United Way of Mercer County’s Economic Summit on Early Childhood Investment Friday at Thiel College.

The summit provides a forum for area business leaders to better understand that high quality early learning programs result in substantial economic development benefits to our region. This year, Lawrence County business leaders, along with civic and educational leaders, will participate in the seminar. 

Registration and continental breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 8 in the Lutheran Heritage Room at Howard Miller Student Center.

Dr. Troy VanAken, president of Thiel College, will welcome the group and introduce keynote speaker Nick Scott, Jr.  Nick, along with his brother Chris and his father Nick Sr., is in charge of operations and development at their third-generation family-owned business, Scott Enterprises.

Scott Enterprises is known throughout the community for philanthropy and the passion for giving back. Nick Scott spearheaded the company’s We Promise To Care initiative, which emphasizes giving back to the community and caring for his employees and guests.
