BOARDMAN

The owner of Caf 422 confirmed Wednesday that a second caf location will open in the former Rusty’s Southside Grill here.

“We have always had an interest in going that direction. I think it’s a really good idea, and lots of people from Boardman and Poland come to us now,” said owner Serdar Dede.

Caf 422’s original location is 4422 Youngstown Road SE (U.S. Route 422) in Warren and features Angus beef, fresh seafood, chops and pasta dishes along with homemade sauces and desserts.

Dede said the new Boardman restaurant, at 8586 South Ave., will serve the same dishes and have the same name as the original.

“We will make some changes to the interior of the [Boardman] building. We’re hoping to be open by early fall,” he said.

Dede also said the Boardman location will keep and improve upon the private banquet room and patio that were part of Rusty’s.

“It will have a good impact for the area, and we’re looking forward to the new location,” he said.

The former Rusty’s building was sold Monday for $650,000, according to the Mahoning County Auditor’s website. The website lists the property’s total market value at $947,670.

Boardman Trustee Larry Moliterno said Caf 422’s new restaurant, along with announcements from Cheddars Casual Caf , Aces Fire Grill & Bar and Los Gallos, show that Boardman is still a prime location for commercial development. He said three of the four businesses are moving into existing buildings.
