Dr. James LaPolla has resigned as a member of the Trumbull County Educational Service Center after 14 years, and is moving out of the area.

LaPolla, a retired pediatrician, served 43 years on various school boards.

Before the Educational Service Center, he served 25 years on the Howland Local School District Board of Education. He also served four years on the Trumbull County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, now known as Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities, and also served on the board of the Trumbull County Joint Vocational School.

“Dr. LaPolla has made many valuable contributions to the Trumbull County Educational Service Center during his years of service,” said Michael Hanshaw, TCESC superintendent.

“He is a dedicated board member who has given freely of his time and energy to support public education throughout Trumbull County. He will be missed by the educational community that he has served for the past 43 years.”

The Educational Service Center seeks letters of interest from anyone interested in filling this seat. A letter and resume should be sent to Don Bishop, board president, Trumbull County Educational Service Center, 6000 Youngstown Warren Road, Niles, Ohio 44446 by Monday.

The Educational Service Center provides educational leadership and instruction in the areas of curriculum development, special education and technology. The center employs more than 200 teachers, therapists, psychologists and other specialists who work with students in 20 school districts.
