Warren official appeals decision on suspension
Staff report
WARREN
Chris Taneyhill, Warren building official, has appealed the decision of Enzo Cantalamessa, Warren public service and safety director, suspending Taneyhill for 60 days without pay.
In an April 11 letter, Cantalamessa said he found Taneyhill guilty of “gross neglect of duty and gross insubordination.”
The suspension stems from Taneyhill’s failure to attend a meeting among Cantalamessa, Mayor Doug Franklin and a local businessman April 6 at the mayor’s office, according to a letter to Taneyhill.
Franklin called Taneyhill’s office, and the office manager told Taneyhill to contact Franklin about the meeting, yet Taneyhill still didn’t attend, the letter said.
The meeting was rescheduled “because you failed to appear at an earlier scheduled meeting on March 21, 2012,” the letter says.
“By your actions, you have not only showed disrespect to the Office of the Mayor, you have embarrassed the City with the business community,” the letter says.
A hearing date for Taneyhill’s grievance has not yet been scheduled.
When reached by telephone, Taneyhill, whose suspension started April 13, said he had no comment.
