Beatitude House receives Easter gift

Phillip Naples, a second-grade student at South Range Elementary School, knows that it is better to give than to receive. Recently, Phillip won a 20-pound chocolate bunny. His initial reaction was extreme joy, especially because earlier that same day his pet baby bunny had died. However, the next morning he told his parents that he wanted to donate the prize to kids who have cancer. His school had just finished a fundraiser for the cause, and Phillip had collected the most money in his homeroom. Because of dietary restrictions, food of any kind cannot be donated to children’s hospitals, and Akron Children’s Hospital suggested that it go to Beatitude House, a women and children’s shelter. Sister Mary Alice, education director, standing with Phillip, and Dorothy Fields, secretary of House of Blessing-Youngstown, were thrilled to receive the gift that Phillip and his father delivered.
