YSU sends alert campuswide over attempted robbery

Suspects emerged from a white, four-door SUV on Madison Avenue in front of Youngstown State University’s Cafaro House dormitory early Sunday and tried to rob university students on the sidewalk, but left empty-handed, according to campus police. No weapon was displayed, and no injuries were reported in the 5:03 a.m. incident, which is being investigated by city police. A text message was sent on the university’s alert system at 6:24 a.m. to students, faculty and staff concerning the attempted robbery.
