SENIOR SIDELIGHTS
Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, Walking Club at 9 a.m., painting class ($5) at 9:30, bingo at 10 and computer practice at noon; Tuesday, Vets Helping Vets at 10 a.m., bridge club and Zumba at 10:30, bingo at noon, beginner computer class at 3 p.m. and intermediate computer class at 4; Wednesday, Walking Club and open exercise/cornhole/pingpong/pool at 9 a.m., bingo at 10, backyard garden planner at noon and movie matinee showing of “The Way” at 1 p.m.; Thursday, yoga, open exercise and Wii bowling at 9:30 a.m., beginner crochet at 10:30, and bingo, monthly birthday party, 50-50 drawing and open computer lab at noon; and Friday, Walking Club at 9 a.m., bingo, discussion group and genealogy at 10, and open exercise/Wii bass fishing and A Matter of Balance at noon. Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer guardianship program of Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. The next monthly meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. May 2 at Perkins Family Restaurant, 1953 Niles Cortland Road SE. Angels reach out in friendship to people who are elderly and alone in Trumbull County by providing trained, qualified volunteers to serve as advocates. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors, such as health fairs and Make a Difference Day projects.
