AUSTINTOWN
Richard and Patricia Kowal of Austintown marked the 50th anniversary of their marriage over a two-day celebration April 20 and 21 at Das Dutch Village Inn in Columbiana. There also are plans for a family trip later this year.
Mr. Kowal and the former Patricia Ebaugh were married April 21, 1962, at Highway Tabernacle Church in Austintown, where they are members.
The Kowal children are Lori (Joe) Scopelite of Plain City, Ohio, and Scott (Debbie) Kowal of Columbus. Two grandchildren, Megan and Lindsey Kowal, complete the family.
Mrs. Kowal retired in 1997 as a receptionist and bookkeeper for the office of Dr. Frank Kelley in Austintown. She also worked as a sales editor for General Fireproofing in Youngstown.
Mr. Kowal retired in 1997 as a die setter for Delphi-Packard Electric in Warren. He also worked as an assistant buyer for the Strouss-Hirshberg Co. in Youngstown. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960.
The couple are members of their church’s Sunshine Visitation Ministry for shut-ins, and they assist in serving meals at bereavement dinners at the church.
