Couple mark 50th with family party and trip to Fla.

YOUNGSTOWN

William and Karen Weems of Youngstown observed their 50th wedding anniversary April 14 with family and friends at the Holiday Inn in Boardman. Mr. Weems and the former Karen Zawrotny were married on that date in 1962 at Sacred Heart Church in Youngstown. The couple also will travel this month to Anna Maria Island, Fla., to mark the anniversary.

The Weems children are Randall (Sharon) Weems of Youngstown and Richard (Kathi) Weems of Bluffton, Ohio. The couple have four grandchildren, Matthew (Molly) Weems, David (Jacqui) Weems, Marc Weems and Martina Weems. Three great-granddaughters complete the family circle.

Mrs. Weems, a homemaker, was previously employed by the Hoover Company. She is a choir member at Heritage Presbyterian Church, where the couple are members.

Mr. Weems retired in 1999 as a sheet metal journeyman, of Local 33, for Roth Bothers. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1958 to 1960. He is a member and Past Master of Wick Lodge 481, F.&A.M. He also is a ruling elder at his church, served as superintendent of the Adult Sunday School and taught the men’s class for 25 years.
