The Montessori School of the Mahoning Valley received a Neighborhood SUCCESS grant from the Raymond John Wean Foundation to help beautify and protect the neighborhood surrounding the school.
During the past few years, the school and its neighbors have been concerned about possible safety issues from a wooded area near the school.
Interested neighbors and community leaders collaborated with the school and determined that planting rose bushes along property lines would address the concerns.
The natural boundary will create a transition between lawns and the wooded area that the school is committed to preserving.
The boundary also will help protect the neighborhood from undesirable activities.
Members of Montessori and the neighborhood will meet to plant the rose bushes at 9 a.m. next Saturday at the school.
In the event of rain, the planting will be at 1 p.m. April 29.
