Legionaries of Christ ordain Mitchell brothers

The Revs. Jason Mitchell and Michael Mitchell of the Legionaries of Christ were ordained by Cardinal Velasio De Paolis in St. John Latern Church.

The brothers and 47 others in the order participated in the ordination ceremony Dec. 12, 2011.

Fathers Jason and Michael Mitchell are sons of Thomas and Tammie Dumas Mitchell of Franklin, Pa., former members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown. They are grandsons of Elizabeth Mitchell of Austintown, a member of Immaculate Heart, and Pete and Bonnie Dumas of Austintown, members of Our Lady of the Lakes Church in Lake Milton and former Immaculate Heart members.

At the invitation of the Rev. David Merzweiler, pastor of Our Lady of the Lakes, Father Michael Mitchell will celebrate Mass at 7 p.m. Tuesday in St. Catherine Church, 1254 Grandview Road, Lake Milton.

Father Michael is director of vocations for the Midwest region of the Legionaries of Christ.

Father Jason is a professor of philosophy at the Pontifical Athenaeurn Regina Apostolorum in Rome, Italy.

They attended college and seminary through the Legionaries of Christ. Father Jason holds a doctorate in philosophy; Father Michael, a master’s in philosophy.
