Foundation plans fundraiser for cancer

The Kayla Irene Daniels Cure for Cancer Foundation is sponsoring Let Our Children Bloom, Knock Out Cancer with a Knock-Out Rose Bush fundraiser. The plants are in 3-gallon containers for $25 to help fight childhood cancer. Both single and double roses are available in red or pink.

Fundraiser gift certificates can be purchased now, and the rose bushes can be picked up at Creekside Gardens, 3680 N. River Road, during normal business hours, or arrangements can be made with the K.I.D. Foundation to have them delivered.

ValleyCare will launch program for seniors

ValleyCare Health System of Ohio is launching Senior Circle at two local hospitals. The program is for those 50 and over.

Senior Circle membership offers a variety of benefits including social opportunities, health education programs, exercise classes, volunteerism, entertainment and travel.

The following free kickoff events are being offered: Trumbull Memorial Hospital will start up its chapter from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Leo’s Ristorante in Howland with a health expo and luncheon. Register by Monday by going online to www.trumbullmemorial.net or call 330-841-5665.

Iron Soup schedules weekly garage sales

The Iron Soup Historical Preservation Co., 40 Chambers St., sponsors a Community Garage Sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine, every Saturday and Sunday. The sales will continue through late fall.

Iron Soup receives many of its donated goods from Mahoning County Realtors. They include furniture, household items, baby items, collectibles, furnaces, air conditioners and tools.

Vendors may set up for the whole weekend for $10, or $25 if they need electricity.

Iron Soup was created to preserve the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. Homes.
