Convicted Mahoning County deputy repleased from prison


YOUNGSTOWN

Michael Budd, a former major in the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, has been released from federal prison and is now housed at the Community Corrections Association Inc. in Youngstown.

Budd, 51, of Boardman, was found guilty at trial in 2005 of ordering the beating of inmate Tawhon Easterly, obstructing justice and personally roughing up two other inmates. He was sentenced to 97 months in prison.

Budd is housed at the CCA facility, but permitted to leave for work purposes. He may ultimately be placed on house arrest after he has established a viable address with CCA caseworkers.

Budd has been at the CCA since March 8. He will be released from CCA supervision Aug. 4.
