Spring Break started off sweet for North Elementary students, thanks to the school’s PTO.

On the afternoon of April 5, the last day before break, the PTO set up a ice cream station that garnered appreciation from all ages.

Each class at North was invited to the school’s cafeteria to first gather for a group photo for the yearbook. After students smiled for the camera, they grinned as they topped vanilla ice cream with the toppings of their choice.

For fourth-graders Christina Cole and Angeliyah Webster, the choice was clear.

“Chocolate syrup, whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles,” Cole stated.

“They’re pretty much the best things to put on top of a sundae,” Webster added.

PTO event chair Sarah Orr said the event has been hosted before Spring Break for about six years.

“We’re offering a bit of a sugar rush before the kids leave for their break. It’s our way of fanning the excitement for the holiday and offering the students time to enjoy one another’s company,” Orr explained.
