POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard:

LIBERTY

April 12

Burglary: To an apartment in the 10 block of Holly Drive. Stolen were two gold necklaces, a gold ring and $2,000.

Arrest: Jason L. Poole, 33, of 828 Paige Ave., Warren, was taken into custody during a traffic stop near Fifth Avenue. Poole was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Theft/weapon: While responding to a shoplifting situation at Dollar General in the Liberty Plaza, police arrested 37-year-old Andrea C. Davidson on charges of theft, obstructing official business, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of criminal tools. Davidson, of 459 Manchester Ave., Youngstown, had a knife and provided authorities with a false date of birth and Social Security number, they said.

Drugs: Officers in the 4700 block of Belmont Avenue pulled over 34-year-old Juan C. Irizarry, 3519 LaSalle Ave., Youngstown, then charged him with possession of drugs and heroin as well as driving under suspension. A police dog led to the discovery of six loose white pills and a bag containing a brownish-white substance thought to be suspected heroin, a report showed.

April 13

Arrest: A traffic stop on state Route 304 resulted in a citation against Marvin R. McKitrick, 59, of 2371 Pleasant Valley Road, Niles. He was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

Identity theft: A Beverly Hills Drive man learned that someone had fraudulently used his address and phone number to take out a loan after a collection agency notified the accuser he had a $473 overdue balance on the loan.

Arrest: Boardman authorities handed 19-year-old Justin D. Stewart to township police. Stewart, of 1952 Meadowbrook Ave., Poland, was wanted on warrants accusing him of failing to appear in court on charges of theft and criminal damaging.

Robbery: Irvin J. Brandon, 28, of 464 Lora Ave., Youngstown, faced charges of robbery, obstructing official business and possession of dangerous drugs after an employee with Rite Aid Pharmacy, 2704 Belmont Ave., told police a man handed her a note demanding money. She gave the robber an undisclosed amount.

Burglary: Occurred in the 20 block of Trumbull court via a bedroom window. A $188 TV was taken.

Arrest: Police served a warrant, to 21-year-old Raymond M. Sims before arresting Sims at his home, 14 Holly Drive, Liberty, on a felony domestic-violence charge.

Arrest: Alexis C. Brown, 24, of Columbus surrendered on an outstanding warrant from the township.

April 14

Theft: An East Drive man accused a relative of stealing a wedding ring along with his wallet and debit card.

Arrest: Officers answered a call regarding an intoxicated person at the Liberty Plaza, then took into custody 43-year-old Kathryn F. Ratliff, 1329 W. Montrose Ave., Liberty. She was wanted on three warrants from Girard Municipal Court.

Theft: An aluminum plank and two pump jacks were stolen from a storage garage in the 1800 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road. The loss came to $2,000.

Arrest: Officers responded to a theft at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, then arrested 42-year-old Anthony D. Elder, 169 N. Richview Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted on warrants from Howland and Boardman.

Burglary: A 40-inch flat-screen TV, a microwave oven and a cable box were missing from a residence someone had entered in the 20 block of Trumbull Court, though police found no signs of forced entry.

April 15

Arrest: Police responded to an erratic driver near Belmont Avenue, conducted a traffic stop and charged 44-year-old William A. Perry, 968 Winona Drive, Youngstown, with operating a vehicle impaired and having no operator’s license.

April 16

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a residence in the 1300 block of Church Hill Road through the front door before removing about $3,000 worth of copper plumbing throughout the home.

Theft: A drill, a circular saw, wrenches and screws were missing from a garage in the 2900 block of Northview Avenue.

Criminal damaging: Two signs and five landscaping lights were damaged in the 300 block of Dunn Drive.

April 17

Arrest: Howland police handed 22-year-old Monique A. Whitacre to township authorities. Whitacre, of 717 Lincoln Ave., Niles, was accused of failing to appear in court to face a disorderly-conduct charge.

GIRARD

April 15

Harassment: A Parkview Avenue man cutting his grass told officers a neighbor harassed him as part of a dispute regarding property boundaries.

Trespassing: A man in the 1500 block of South State Street reported someone had ridden a backhoe on his property.

Burglary: Occurred in the 300 block of Indiana Avenue. A Sony PlayStation 3 system and two flat-screen TVs were missing.

April 16

Trespassing: A Patricia Drive man saw that someone had entered his vehicle, though it appeared nothing was missing.

Harassment: A South Randolph Street woman said her former husband has been making harassing and threatening calls to her.

Assault/possible theft: An electrician, formerly with a South State Street engineering firm, alleged his then boss punched his left eye during a dispute regarding money owed to the accuser. The employer told police the former worker refused to return various tools and a set of keys.

Menacing: An employee with a U.S. Route 422 discount store reported a woman threatened to return with a family member to harm him after the woman felt she had been shortchanged.

Identity fraud: An East Liberty Street woman found out someone had used her email account to deplete an account she has.

Burglary: Someone forced open a side door to a residence in the 300 block of Wilson Avenue before taking a 60-inch TV, jewelry and several other items. The loss was estimated at close to $10,000.

Menacing: A Lincoln Avenue man told police a man walking his dog tried to entice the accuser to fight him during an argument about the animal.

Menacing: Three Church Hill Road residents reported someone pulled up in a vehicle, then threatened to harm them and kill their dog.

Aggravated menacing: A West Second Street man said a neighbor had informed him that a former friend of the accuser’s had come to the residence with a handgun.

April 17

Assault: An East Prospect Street man alleged a cousin shoved him during an argument that escalated.
