Ohio State troopers find more than 3,000 illegal prescription pills in Wood County

BOWLING GREEN — Two Michigan people face felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized three bottles of liquid codeine and 3,929 illegal prescription pills, worth an estimated $30,000, during a traffic stop in Wood County.

Troopers stopped a rented 2012 Mazda 3 for a marked-lanes violation on Interstate 75 southbound in Wood County at 12:04 a.m. today. Criminal indicators were observed and it was discovered the occupants did not have consent to have possession of the rental vehicle.

A Hancock County Sheriff’s Office drug-sniffing canine was called to the scene and alerted to the vehicle. A probable-cause search revealed 22 ounces of liquid codeine and these illegal prescription pills: 180 Xanax, 2,503 Hydrocodone, 90 Oxycontin, 1,002 Methadone and 154 Alprazolam.

The suspects, Chare N. Good, 25, of Romulus, Mich., and Remone B. Denham, 35, of Detroit, were charged with five-counts of possession of narcotics and five-counts of trafficking in narcotics, all are second-degree felonies.

Both suspects were incarcerated in the Wood County Jail.
