New publisher at Punxsutawney Spirit

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa.

The Punxsutawney Spirit has a new publisher.

The newspaper reports Tracy L. Smith took over earlier this month after former publisher Mary Jude Troupe announced her retirement in order to pursue other career opportunities. Smith has been an advertising representative for the paper for the past eight years.

Troupe spent the past nine years as publisher after working with the paper’s advertising department. She said she accomplished what she intended to do at the paper and that it was time for Smith to “continue a successful future for the paper.”

Smith says she’s excited about the new opportunity and knows the paper will continue to “provide the community with a quality product.”
