City police investigate robbery and assaults
YOUNGSTOWN
Youngstown police are investigating an armed robbery and two cases of felonious assault, both ending in arrests.
Three men, ranging in age from 20 to 22 years old, told police they were driving in the 100 block of East Ravenwood Avenue just after 7 p.m. Wednesday and came across a man walking in the street blocking traffic. The driver said he stopped to avoid hitting him.
When the car stopped, someone ran from a nearby porch and pointed a gun at the three inside the car. The man who had been walking also turned around and pulled out a gun, pointing it at the three men.
The two armed men asked the three victims what they were doing in that neighborhood, then demanded their valuables. The thieves took money, jewelry and a laptop before running off.
The victims told police they believe they know at least one of the armed men.
A 22-year-old South Side man, meanwhile, is in the Mahoning County jail facing felony charges — accused of shooting at a 29-year-old old South Side woman outside a bar early Thursday. Terry Lucky, 22, of Cameron Avenue likely will be arraigned in Youngstown Municipal Court today.
According to police reports, the woman was entering a South Side bar to purchase beer when she heard Lucky tell another woman to beat her up. The woman said Lucky, holding a firearm, and the other woman were waiting for her when she came out of the bar.
The woman said she took off running, and Lucky fired several shots at her as she ran.
Police converged on the area after hearing about 10 shots and a woman screaming.
Police found the woman without shoes, wearing only a bra and jeans hiding in bushes. She said she ran out of her shoes and removed a white shirt attempting to hide from Lucky.
Lucky was arrested a short time later in the 300 block of East Avondale after a brief foot chase by police.
Also, a 56-year-old South Side woman is in the Mahoning County jail charged with felonious assault, accused of stabbing a 27-year-old man in the chest with a steak knife after a domestic dispute Wednesday. Connie Thomas also will likely be arraigned in Youngstown Municipal Court today.
According to police reports, officers responded to calls for a disturbance at a home in the 300 block of Ferndale Avenue twice in two hours before being called back for a fight with weapons. When officers returned they found the man clenching his chest and covered in blood.
The man told police Thomas stabbed him in the chest while Thomas was engaged in an argument with his mother. He said he was trying to break up the fight.
The man was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment of a puncture wound.
