Canfield musicians score high at OMEA event

Members of the Canfield Middle School seventh and eighth-grade bands earned high ratings while participating in the Ohio Music Educator’s Association District Five Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event at Struthers High School March 24.

The event was sponsored by the OMEA and students performed before a judge for a rating and written comments. Solo and Ensemble is an event where performers don’t compete against each other, just the music.

Earning superior ratings or a I rating on their solos were Ryan DiThomas (twice), Lexi Jones (twice), Rosie Bresson, Olivia Ricciutti, Brooke Bobovynik, Andrew Letscher, Tyler Stratton, Kyle Ring, Julian Vitto, Stephen Sansoterra, Olivia Slater, Emilie Miasek, Evan Sotack, Megan Gocala and Peter Crescimanno.

Earning an excellent or 2 rating on their solos were Katie Jarvis, Kyle Ring and Jacob Rizer.

The trumpet quartet of Olivia Slater, Jack Pallante, Maddy Urig and Jenny McClune and the clarinet trio of Ryan DiThomas, Brooke Bobovynik and Megan Gocala each earned superior ratings.
