Austintown Little Falcons hosts sign-ups today
The Austintown Little Falcons football and cheerleading programs will hold registration today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Austintown Township Hall.
Children 6-12 can register. They must be 6 on or before July 31, 2012 and must be Austintown residents or attend Austintown schools. A birth certificate is required for new players and cheerleaders.
Registration fee is $45 for the first child and an additional $20 for children of the same family. A mandatory $50 fundraiser is in place for 2012.
Scrappers and Indians extend agreement
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers announced that the Player Development Contract (PDC) with the Cleveland Indians has been extended for a period of two years keeping the Scrappers affiliated with the Tribe through the 2014 season.
The Scrappers have been affiliated with Cleveland since Mahoning’s inaugural season in 1999.
Golf benefit set for cancer patients
The 7th annual Sunshine Benefit Golf Outing to defray the medical costs of a Boardman couple suffering from cancer will be July 21 at Lakeside Golf Course.
Proceeds will be donated to Carl and Lucy Seidita, the parents of Kimberly, 17, and Carl Jr., 15. Carl is fighting stage-three inoperative pancreatic cancer while Lucy has oral cancer and requires a feeding tube. The 9 a.m. shotgun start at Lakeside is a three-player scramble that costs $225 per team.
