A free sinus treatment seminar is offered by otolaryngologist Dr. Wayland Wong, affiliated with Salem Community Hospital’s medical staff, on April 26 at Das Dutch Village Inn, 150 east state Route 14. At 6:30 p.m., participants can view displays and complete a sinus screening assessment. Dr. Wong’s presentation, “New Trends in Sinus Treatment,” is at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Research walk

The CureSearch Walk to raise funds for children’s cancer research is April 28 at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road. The CureSearch Walk includes a ceremony honoring past and present child cancer patients as well as prizes, music, food, and fun activities for the entire family. Funds raised support hospitals conducting clinical trials research through the Children’s Oncology Group, of which Akron Children’s Hospital, Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic are members.
Event supports fight against child abuse
NEW CASTLE, PA.
The Walk/Jammin’ for Justice event to support the fight against child abuse in Lawrence County is April 28 beginning at 10 a.m. in Cascade Park, East Washington St. Registration is at 11 a.m. for the one-mile walk which begins at noon. Other events include bands throughout the day, victims rights trivia, prize wheel, dunking tank, children’s activities, hide and seek with a canine, crime scene clean-up, and community agencies information booths.
Walk participants, who raise money through sponsorships and donations, can register online with a credit card or download the registration packet and send the information to the Crisis Shelter. For information and online registration go to http://crisisshelter.org/2012/02/21/walk-for-justice.
The registration fee for individuals is $14 prior to April 23 and $20 thereafter; and $40 for each community group or business team of four plus $10 for each additional team walker.
Family Funfest

In honor of Occupational Therapy Month and to kick off Better Hearing and Speech Month, Beyond Expectations SouthBridge Therapy & Learning Center is offering a free Family Funfest on April 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at 725 Boardman-Canfield Road., E-1, in the South Bridge Executive Park.
Activities include therapy rabbits, games, crafts, music, fact painting, raffles and refreshments, and a book signing of “I Believe in You” by local author Michele Gianetti. Attendees can sign up for free screenings and classes. Call 330-307-7983 for information.
Pain management
WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa.
Doctors Pain Clinic, in partnership with UPMC Horizon, is offering “Tame the Pain,” a program designed to educate patients on pain management options. The free event May 7 at 6 p.m. at Park Inn by Radisson, 3377 New Castle Road (state Route 18), includes dinner and is open to the public.
The program includes presentations by Dr. Tracy L. Neuendorf, medical director of Doctors Pain Clinic, and Dr. Muhammad Arif, pain management specialist with Doctors Pain Clinic and UPMC Horizon. Registration is required. Call 724-962-5978 before April 27.
