Casino reps seek license from Ohio regulators

COLUMBUS (AP) — The company slated to open Ohio’s first casino in Cleveland next month is defending the financial stability of another company heavily invested in the project.

Representatives from Rock Ohio Caesars gave a presentation today to members of the Ohio Casino Control Commission. It included details on Caesars Entertainment Corporation, a company that’s invested into the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland that’s opening in May.

A gambling consulting group on Wednesday recommended the commission grant Rock Ohio Caesars an operating license after its background check on the company’s finances. But it questioned the stand alone financial stability of Caesars Entertainment Corporation’s debt.

The commission is expected to make its final decision May 2.

The Cleveland casino is one of four voter-approved casinos in Ohio. Casinos also are planned in Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo.
