Austintown police seek suspect in bank robbery

Staff report

Austintown

Township police continue to search for the suspect in a Tuesday morning bank robbery.

Austintown Detective Sgt. Dan Kosco said just before 11 a.m., a man in his late 40s or early 50s entered the Home Savings and Loan on Kirk Road and handed the teller a note demanding money.

Kosco said the suspect was white, wearing a baseball cap and a black jacket and claimed he had a gun, but he never showed one to the teller.

The man fled in a four-door gray or silver vehicle on Kirk toward Meridian Road with an undetermined amount of money, he said.

Kosco said he thinks it’s possible the robbery is connected to one or two others that have occurred in the Mahoning Valley recently, and Austintown police are working with other departments in an effort to locate the suspect.
