Vallus daughters gather family for parents’ 50th

Eddie and Patty Vallus of Poland celebrated the 50th anniversary of their marriage April 8 at a family dinner hosted by their daughters at their home.

The Vallus children are Kim Vallus of Poland; Chrissy Vallus of Bessemer, Pa.; and Kelly (John) Mesaros of Campbell. The couple have five grandchildren, Charissa, Cayla, Cory, Anthony and Alexis.

Mr. Vallus and the former Patty Tancabel were married May 5, 1962, at St. Anthony Church in Bessemer.

Mrs. Vallus is a homemaker and former co-owner of Sweet Creations Candy Shop in Bessemer. She has been a volunteer visitor to area nursing homes for five years.

Mr. Vallus retired in 1995 as a service officer with the Veterans Administration of Mahoning County and has been the leader of the Eddie Vallus Band for the past 50 years. He is a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus, Poland Council 4471, and he serves as vice president of Penn-Ohio Polka Pals. He also volunteers at the Youngstown VA Outpatient Clinic. He served with the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1954 through 1962.

The couple are members of St. Joseph the Provider Church in Campbell.
