SALEM

R.T. Schuck, a Salem artist, has written a biography including the many interesting and comical events in his life.

“The Schuck Luck,” a paper-back of 117 pages, has 15 chapters that cover a variety of topics, such as The Pony Farm, Earn Money and Get Prizes, Under the Big Top and The Family Tree.

Copies can be obtained at the Salem Historical Society Gift Shop, 208 S. Broadway Ave.; MacMillan Office Supply, 553 E. State St.; Fred’s Pharmacy, 1136 E. State St.; and The Thrift Shop, 187 S. Broadway Ave.

Book signings are scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the Salem Historical Society.

Boardman author to be at B&N store

Marilyn Burns of Boardman, a local author and counselor, will sign her books “Lost No More ... A Mother’s Spiritual Journey Through Her Son’s Addiction” and “Now I Lay Him Down To Rest” from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Barnes and Noble in Boardman.

“Lost No More” is about the death of her son, Christopher Burns, who died in 2007 of a drug-related heart attack.

“Now I Lay Him Down To Rest” is a story for children and adults who have lost someone they love. The story was written to help the reader learn that faith and love can get one through dark times.

New novel for Wouk, 96

NEW YORK

At age 96, Herman Wouk is ready for a fresh start.

The author of “The Caine Mutiny,” “The Winds of War” and other classics has a new novel and has switched publishers after decades with Little, Brown and Co.

Wouk’s “The Lawgiver” is coming out this fall from Simon & Schuster.

It’s the story of a planned movie about Moses, complete with references to Skype and Twitter.

In a statement issued recently by the publisher, Wouk noted that his first novel, “Aurora Dawn,” was also released by Simon & Schuster.

That book came out in 1947.

Cyndi Lauper memoir is due out this fall

Cyndi Lauper swears her book will show her true colors.

The award-winning performer has a memoir coming out this fall, Atria Books announced recently.

“Cyndi Lauper” will cover the singer’s story from her troubled childhood to superstardom in the 1980s to the “ups and downs” that followed.

In a statement issued by Atria, the 58-year-old Lauper said: “Sometimes I come off good, sometimes not so good.”

Lauper’s hits include “True Colors,” “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and “Time After Time.”
