Good Morning event to take place in May

CANFIELD

The Good Morning, Canfield breakfast will take place from 7:30 to 9 a.m. May 4 at McMahon Hall, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road. The original date for the breakfast was April 13.

Canfield Schools Superintendent Dante Zambrini will join Canfield Mayor Kay for a rapid-fire update on everything going on in Canfield.

Fred Scarsella of Scarsella Furniture will receive the Canfield Area Council Business Pride Award, given to a business located within the city or township that exemplifies ethical, moral and professional standards in the workplace and has visibly contributed to local economic development.

The second Spirit of Canfield Award will be given to an individual. Cost is $20 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers.

New restaurant at Eastwood Mall

Eastwood Mall has announced a new restaurant, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, which will debut later this year.

The restaurant will offer steak, seafood, pasta and burger dishes.

Workshop offers grant-seeking tips

The Mahoning/Shenango Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals will host an educational workshop beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave.

David Holmes, Regional Training Coordinator with the Foundation Center in Cleveland, is the featured speaker.

Staff and volunteers involved in fundraising for nonprofit organizations are encouraged to attend. The cost is $15 for AFP members, $25 for not-yet-members and $10 for full-time students.

Tax-filing deadline for 2011 is Tuesday

The last date to file 2011 tax returns is Tuesday.

This is two days later than the regular tax deadline of April 15, which this year falls on Sunday. Monday is the federal holiday Emancipation Day.

Taxpayers can request an extension to file until Oct. 15, but that does not exclude them from paying taxes by Tuesday.
