YSU prof to speak about Mayan culture, demise Sunday in Boardman

Youngstown State University Professor Matthew Omansky will speak at Boardman Park about the Mayan civilization.

Omansky, a Vanderbilt University graduate, will discuss the cause of the Mayan’s demise and the significance of the Mayan calendar during a lecture at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Cabin in Boardman Park.

The lecture is hosted by the Mahoning Valley Chapter of the Ohio Archaeological Society and is open to the public.

Omanksy just returned from Meso America with a group from YSU. He is a recognized specialist in the field.
