Boardman police ID fight suspects

Boardman

Police Chief Jack Nichols said detectives have identified “several” people involved in a local fight club that was filmed and uploaded to YouTube in March and expects arrests to be made by the middle of next week.

Police believed the fights, which involved about 100 people behind The Shops at Boardman Park, were scheduled on a monthly basis.

On March 31, an employee of the park called the police after spotting one of the fights. When police arrived the fighters ran into the woods. Police found a loaded handgun at the scene.

Scrap-tire collections

WARREN

The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District has awarded $62,456 to cities, townships and villages in Trumbull County to implement scrap-tire collection programs.

The program will help communities implement collections, such as one-day collection programs, curbside collection and cleanups of illegally dumped tires on roadsides.

“Finding ways to improve and make the process easier for residents to properly dispose of scrap tires in a more convenient manner is the goal of the district,” said Robert Villers, SWMD director.
