Ohio PTA to honor students for their outstanding artwork

Staff report

Columbus

Sixty-two students from throughout the state will be honored for outstanding artwork at a dinner and awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. next Saturday at Ohio PTA’s Annual Convention at the DoubleTree Hotel, 175 Hutchinson Ave.

The preschool through high school students participated in the PTA Reflections Program.

The Ohio PTA, through National PTA, has this cultural arts program annually.

Children in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six areas: literature, visual arts, photography, dance choreography, film/video and musical composition. This year’s theme was “Diversity Means ...”

The Reflections program allows PTAs throughout the state to recognize children for their creativity in portraying yearly themes.

Teachers, parents, children and community can get involved in enhancing arts education though the Reflections program.

PTA strongly supports education in the arts. The Reflections program is run across the country.

Many national finalists have been from Ohio.
