Sentencing for pharmacy owner delayed again

WARREN

Kenneth Overholt Jr., the former owner of Overholt’s Champion Pharmacy and a former Champion Township trustee, returned to court Thursday for sentencing on five counts of aggravated drug trafficking but remains free.

Judge John M. Stuard of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court agreed to hold off for six more months before Overholt must return to court for possible sentencing.

The judge has delayed sentencing already for about 10 months because Overholt is extremely ill with a chronic lung condition.

Overholt and two of his employees filled thousands of prescriptions for a now-deceased Middlefield pain-management doctor in 2007 and 2008, prosecutors said.

The prescriptions were for dangerous drugs in volumes of as much as 10 times the normal daily amount.
