new castle, pa.

A judge has ruled that Jordan Brown, 14, is guilty in the shotgun slaying of his father’s pregnant fiancee.

Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge John Hodge made the announcement this afternoon.

Jordan was 11 when Kenzie Houk, 26, was shot in the back of the head while laying in bed the morning of Feb. 20, 2009. Her nine-month-old fetus, a boy, died afterward from lack of oxygen.

Jordan’s blended family, including his father, Chris, and Houk’s two daughters, Janessa, 7, and Adalynn, 4, lived in a rented farmhouse near Wampum, Pa.

Police said Jordan and Janessa got on a school bus after the shooting, and Adalynn was left alone to find her mother’s body.

Jordan’s trial began Tuesday and was finished Thursday morning. He was tried as a juvenile.
