Dobbins Elementary celebrated the 30th anniversary of its annual Kindergarten egg hunt on April 5.
Kindergarten teachers Elaine Fabrizi and Stephanie Mateja planned the event and offered Easter fun. The event, held on the kindergartners’ last day before Spring Break, was tied into learning activities where the students solved math problems, danced to Easter music and read holiday books.
By 10 a.m., the Dobbins playground was festooned with eggs and the kindergartners went hunting soon after. For any kindergartners with younger siblings, a slower-paced toddler egg hunt was held adjacent to the high-traffic hunt.
Shelia Kapics had both ages present to enjoy the event, when she brought her young daughter, Macie, to meet her kindergartner, Kylie, at school.
“They were both really great egg hunters from what I saw. It’s a fun event, because soon enough, Macie is going to be a kindergartner here at Dobbins. I’d like to think of it as good practice,” Shelia Kapics said.
Once all the eggs were gathered, it was time for the kids to open them up to find treats.
“I like all the candy, but Starburst is definitely my favorite,” explained kindergartner Brian Ferguson.
Dobbins principal Cheryl Borovitcky, who observed some of the action, was glad to see the enjoyment of all her guests.
“Our egg hunt is special because families get to join in on the fun. It’s a great tradition that our kindergartners continue to enjoy,” she said.
