Local Easter lovers braved the chilly early-morning temperature on March 31 to visit Boardman Park for its annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Dressed in Easter pastels, bunny ears and with baskets in hand, local kids lined up at three designated hunting areas near the park’s Masters Pavilion. So all hunters were on the same skill level, three separate hunts were held, with the first for children 2 and under, the second for 3 to 4-year-olds, and the last for ages 5 to 8.
Boardman native Noah Trewella lined up at the 3 to 4-year-old hunt with his grandparents, Susan and Robert.
“This is our second year at the Easter Egg Hunt. It really is the highlight of our Easter season and Noah really loves it,” Susan Trewella said.
At the exclamation of “Go!”, Noah and the fellow hunters went searching. Susan and Robert stood on the sidelines, smiling and pointing Noah in the right direction to pick up some good treats.
“They do a lot of fun things here at the park. We really like visiting here,” Susan Trewella added. Between the egg hunts, guests could meet and take a photo with the Easter Bunny and receive a balloon animal or hat from a clown.
In the Masters Pavilion, families could warm up and look through their haul of goodies after the egg hunts.
Tammi Smith counted up treats with her grandson, J.T. Smith.
“We found lots of eggs, toys, candy and a few coupons for ice cream. We’ll be waiting until it’s a little warmer to take up the ice cream offer, though,” Tammi Smith said.
